So companies are losing money building their desktops, they lose money because IT can’t help fix other workstations, which slows down the productivity rate of their workers, which means each worker the company hires aren’t doing as much, WHICH MEANS THEY LOSE MONEY. If every company built their own desktops, not only is it going to take forever building them-wasting MORE time in the IT department, and workers can’t use them immediately aka LOSING MONEY-you’ll also more than likely run into errors that otherwise wouldn’t happen if you just bought a pre-built machine. Do you realize how much MORE money that would cost the companies? Fixing issues that shouldn’t have been there in the first place not only wastes productivity from workers but also takes time away from the IT department when they could be working fixing or updating other workstations. Now imagine the desktops you built for your company runs into errors/1 or 2 of them are duds (because errors will happen especially when you’re building your own), and other “IT” divisions from other big companies are also building their own and are also having errors-so now we’re talking multiple misfires on a large scale around the world. You’re comparing personal usage to scaling. You just can’t build a desktop with MacOS by yourself (and with similar build quality and cooling for $3K), and b. I know you can build a really money-valued desktop for personal usage, but when it comes to big companies on a larger scale, it’s impossible to build your own.

I don’t disagree that you can build a windows one, but build me a desktop with the exact build quality, cooling, internal upgradeability, and MacOS as the Mac Pro.
